GEORGETOWN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons dropped a 6-0 decision to Southwestern, Tuesday evening at Rockwell Field in Georgetown in non-conference baseball action. The two teams were locked into a pitcher's duel between the starters Craig Foreman for the Cowboys and Chris Robinson for the Pirates. Foreman allowed a couple of singles in the fourth and the Pirates were able to push around the first round. In the sixth a two-out bad hop allowed two unearned runs to score after a previous error in the inning. HSU loaded the bases with no one out in the seventh, but the Pirates went to the bullpen and got three straight strikeouts. In the bottom of the seventh Matt Odom delivered a wind-blown home run to center field with two outs to take a 6-0 lead. Foreman took the loss for the Cowboys to fall to 2-6. Robinson picked up the win and Kurt Watzek recorded the save. Chuy Rodriguez had two hits for the Cowboys. HSU fell to 16-17 with the loss and Southwestern moved to 21-16. HSU will play Schreiner in a three-game set over the weekend. |
