Cowboys Fall To Texas Tech

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team fell to Texas Tech, 10-6, Wednesday afternoon at Dan Law Field in Lubbock.

The Red Raiders scored two runs in the first, but the Cowboys came back with three runs in the fourth. Simpson had a two-run single and Taylor Lamar and Barry Janisse had RBI singles in the innings.

TTU responded with three in the third and two in the fourth and single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. HSU added two runs in the fifth. Justin Wilson had an RBI double in the fifth and Simpson added an RBI single.

Nick Kincaid took the loss for the Cowboys. HSU used six different pitchers in the game -Josh Bishop, Kincaid, Kurtis Lay, Kyle Tabor, Brian Arnold and Craig Foreman. The Red Raiders used eight different pitchers in the contest that went 2:51.

Barry Janisse and Michael Simpson each had three hits to lead the Cowboys. Simpson had three RBIs. Carey Avents led the Red Raiders with four hits, three RBIs and a home Run. Joseph Callander also had four hits.

The Cowboys fell to 19-13 with the loss and Texas Tech improved to 23-11 on the season.

Hardin-Simmons will play at Concordia-Austin in a pivotal American Southwest Conference series starting on Friday at 7 p.m., the games can be heard on KAGT 90.5 FM.
