ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team dropped the final game of its three-game series to cross-town rival McMurry, 15-5, Sunday afternoon at Walt Driggers Field on the McMurry campus. The Cowboys, who fell out of first place in the ASC West after getting swept by the Indians, fell behind 8-1 but narrowed the gap to 8-5, when Justin Wilson hit a grand slam over the right field wall in the sixth inning. However, McMurry sealed the win with a seven-run seventh inning. The Cowboys committed two of their six errors in the game and also had three walks and a hit batter in the inning. Hardin-Simmons fell to 16-11 on the year and 8-4 in ASC West play. McMurry improved to 17-10 and 9-3 in ASC West play. Andy Harrington, Michael Popino and Wilson each had 11 hits for the Cowboys. Wilson took the loss on the mound to fall to 3-2 on the year. HSU plays a doubleheader at Trinity on Tuesday. |
