Cowboy Baseball Falls 14-6 To McMurry

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons baseball team lost 14-6 to McMurry in American Southwest Conference action Friday night at Hunter Field.

McMurry scored two runs on a double from Michael Skoog to take the lead 2-0 in the top of the second inning, but HSU rounded out the second inning scoring one run on a single from Brandon Beene.

It was 2-1 McMurry until the Indians pounded out nine runs in the fouth through seventh innings. Albert Carrizales had a one-run homer and Bramer Owen had a two-run homer in the top of the fifth inning for McM. The Indians were up 11-1.

The Cowboys remained scoreless until the bottom of the seventh inning when Ryan Devere had a two-run homer.

Things still looked dimm for HSU as McM scored four runs to clench the win. The Cowboys did score three runs on hits by birthday-boy Chuy Rodriguez and Josh Anderlohr in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Ryan Devere led the Cowboys with three hits while Chuy Rodriguez, John Schlaffer and Brandon Beene all had two hits each. Albert Carrizlaes and Josh Lee led the Indians with three hits each.

Matt Hinds (4-1) took the loss for HSU while Josh Lee (5-1) picked up the win for McM.

The two teams will face off again Saturday in an ASC doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. at Hunter Field.
