ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball snapped UT-Dallas' seven-game winning streak with a 10-7 win Tuesday night in non-conference baseball action at Hunter Field.

The Cowboys got on the board in the second inning with four runs. Michael Simpson led off with a double down the line and moved up on a wild pitch. Scott Drake singled in Simpson. Tim Donnelly and Brandon Beene then drew back-to-back walks to load the bases for Barry Janisse, who doubled in two runs. Andy Harrington then drove in Beene with a sacrifice fly.

After UTD scored two runs in the third, HSU responded with four more runs in the fourth. Tim Donnelly was hit by a pitch and moved up on a Brandon Beene sac bunt. Janisse reached on an error and then Justin Wilson came up with a three-run home run to center.

UTD scored five runs from the sixth through the eighth innings to narrow the gap to 8-7, but HSU scored two runs in the eighth to expand the lead. Janisse led off with a single moved up on a Harrington sacrifice bunt, Michael Popino then walked. Wilson drove home Janisse with a double. Jeff Wisner, who pinch ran for Popino, scored on a Michael Simpson sacrifice fly to right.

Josh Bishop (3-1) pitched six quality innings for the win and Cory Summers pitched three innings for his first save of the year. Bishop allowed just two earned runs on four hits, while striking out six. James Wollscheid took the loss for UT-Dallas, after giving up eight runs in three and two-third innings.

Barry Janisse led the Cowboys at the plate with three hits and two RBIs. Justin Wilson added two hits and four RBIs. Brad Coleman and Michael Popino had two hits each. Justin Price, Johnny Espree and Ryan Hellen had two hits each for the Comets.

HSU improved to 16-8 with the win and the Comets fell to 21-4.

The Cowboys, who lead the American Southwest Conference West Division with an 8-1 mark, will travel to third-place McMurry (6-3) on Friday and Saturday for a three-game set with a single game on Friday at 7 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.
