Final Stats

LUBBOCK, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team dropped a 10-9 decision to Lubbock Christian Tuesday afternoon at Hays Field in Lubbock.

The Cowboys jumped out to an early 6-1 lead after three and one-half innings. Brad Coleman had an RBI single and Blake Koch had an RBI double in the first, Taylor Gibbs had a RBI single in the second and Danny Ruth had a three-run home run in the third.

LCU responded with four runs in the third and two runs in the fourth. They benefited from three home runs in the two innings.

HSU battled back to tie the game in the sixth inning with a pair of runs. Michael Simpson had a sacrifice fly and Koch had an RBI single in the inning. LCU came right back in the bottom of the sixth to take the 9-8 lead on a Blake Britton RBI single. Matt Daugherty had an RBI single in the eighth to give the Chaps an insurance run.

HSU picked up a run in the ninth on a Danny Ruth RBI single. Koch had three hits for HSU and Ruth had a pair of hits and four RBIs.

HSU is now 12-14 on the year and Lubbock Christian improved to 21-8. Hardin-Simmons will return to action on Friday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Schreiner University in American Southwest Conference action.
