HSU Defeats Sul Ross In Nine Innings

ALPINE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons baseball team won 6-3 over Sul Ross State in American Southwest Conference action Friday afternoon at Kokernot Field in Alpine.

Josh Anderlohr had a three-run homer for the Cowboys in the first inning. Anderlohr brought home Chuy Rodriguez, John Schlaffer and Elliot Strader. Schlaffer and Strader both singled to left field to get on base.

The Lobos came back quick scoring two runs on hits by Kevin Heady and Bob Mesker in the second and third innings.

But HSU held on to a lead and out hit SRSU 14-6. Ryan Devere lead the Cowboys with three hits while Schlaffer and Anderlohr had two hits each.

Kyle Tabor (3-2) pitched a complete nine inning game, struck out five Lobos and picked up the win for HSU while Jacob Hernandez took the loss for Sul Ross.

The Cowboys moved to 9-9 overall and 5-5 in ASC action while Sul Ross drops to 4-18 overall and 2-8 in ASC play.

HSU will take on Sul Ross in an ASC doubleheader Saturday in Alpine.
