ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons and Texas Lutheran split an American Southwest Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Hunter Field. TLU won the first game 10-2 to take the series, and the Cowboys bounced back with a 4-2 win in the second game. In the first game, the Cowboys scored two runs in the first to take the lead but were unable to scratch the rest of the game as Texas Lutheran scored five runs in the third and finished off the 10-2 win. Brad Coleman led the Cowboys' offensive attack with three hits in the first game. Craig Foreman (0-3) took the loss on the mound. Aaron Crais had two hits and four RBIs to lead TLU. Casey Rehfeld and Chris Dusablon had three hits each. Matt Hunn took the win on the mound going the distance and striking out eight. HSU got a pair of solid pitching performances in the nightcap and used some timely hitting for the win. Brian Arnold got the win for the Cowboys by allowing just two runs in five and 2/3 innings. Freshman Dalton Rucker pitched the final three and 1/3 innings, striking out five and not allowing a run. HSU scored all four runs in the fifth inning. Michael Simpson and Elliot Strader each had RBI singles in the inning and Taylor Lamar added a two-run single. Crais and Rehfeld had two hits each and Brian Wallace took the loss on the mound. The Cowboys are now 12-7 on the year and 4-2 in ASC West play. TLU fell to 15-4 and 5-1 in league play. |
