Cowboys Fall To Division II School



Josh Anderlohr had two home runs

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons baseball team lost 15-9 to Tarleton State in non-conference action Tuesday night at Hunter Field.

HSU started off strong with 8-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Josh Anderlohr hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and a three-run homer in the bottom of the third inning. Both of Anderlohr's homers were to the left field.

But the Cowboys didn't hold the lead for long. The Texans scored 14 runs on hits by Noel Sauceda, Rhett Eickenloff and Daniel Anderson.

Anderlohr led the Cowboy offense with three hits and five RBIs. John Schlaffer also had three hits while Seth Gandy and Brian Whitworth had two hits each.

Tyler Mayo pitched 4.1 innings for HSU and had six strikeouts and five earned runs. Chuy Rodriguez (1-1) picked up the loss for the Cowboys while Kerry Schindler picked up the win for Tarleton.

The Cowboys dropped to 8-9 overall while Tarleton moves to 16-16 overall.

HSU will travel to Alpine to take on Sul Ross in American Southwest Conference action this weekend.
