Final Stats

SEGUIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Texas Lutheran, 4-0 and 6-2, Saturday afternoon at Kaat-Isbell Field in Seguin.

In the first game, Kyle Newman threw a three-hitter for Texas Lutheran to improve to 2-1 on the year. The Bulldogs scored two runs in the first and fifth innings, manufacturing the runs each time. Dalton Rucker took the loss for the Cowboys. He went the distance for the Cowboys.

Ryan Stepp had two of the three Cowboy hits in the game.

The second game of the doubleheader turned south for the Cowboys, when they allowed five runs in the sixth inning. The Cowboys had two errors in the innings and the Bulldogs opened up the game.

HSU scored in the fourth to tie the game at 1-1 on a Danny Ruth double. Kelton Redpath had an RBI sac fly in the ninth for HSU. Kurtis Lay took the loss for the Cowboys, allowing five runs (two earned) in three and one-third innings.

The Cowboys fell to 8-7 overall and 1-2 in ASC West play. Texas Lutheran improved to 9-5-1 overall and 2-1 in ASC West play. HSU hosts its Spring Break Tournament this week and will play Southwestern on Tuesday.
