March 8, 2003 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons came from behind four times in a wild 11-10, 10-inning win over UT Dallas in the second game of an American Southwest Conference baseball doubleheader Saturday at Hunter Field. Freshman Josh Anderlohr gave the Cowboys the win with a 10th inning single that scored John Schlaffer. Chuy Rodriguez had been hit by pitch and came around to score when Schlaffer reached on an error that went down the right field line. Trailing 8-6 in the sixth inning of a scheduled seven-inning game, Schlaffer hit a three-run homer to give the Cowboys a 9-8 lead. Richard Bragg hit a home run that tied the game in the seventh. Rodriguez picked up the win in relief for the Cowboys and Randy Black took the loss for the Comets. HSU improved to 5-5 overall and 3-3 in conference action. UTD fell to 7-4 and 2-4. Schlaffer led the Cowboys with two hits and six RBIs, Ryan Devere and Bryan Whitworth each had two hits for the Cowboys. HSU returns to action Monday at noon when it plays Wayland Baptist. |
