Final Stats

ABILENE, Texas - Michael Simpson's grand slam fueled a five-run third inning and the Hardin-Simmons baseball team went on to an 8-2 win over Austin College in an American Southwest Conference crossover game at Hunter Field on Friday night.

Two walks and a hit batsmen loaded the bases for Simpson who drilled a pitch over the left field wall for the grand slam. Justin Wilson followed with another home run to stake Craig Foreman to a big lead.

Foreman did not need the runs as he allowed just one earned run over eight innings, while giving up five hits and striking out six to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Barry Janisse led the Cowboy offense with three hits, scored three runs and had two doubles. Simpson had two hits and four RBIs.

The Cowboys improved to 4-3 on the year and the Kangaroos fell to 0-10. The two will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
