LONGVIEW, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team swept a doubleheader from LeTourneau Saturday afternoon, rallying for a 9-8 win in the first game and dominating the night game 13-1 in American Southwest Conference crossover action. In the first game the Cowboys trailed 7-0 after two innings, but battled back to take a 9-8 win. The Cowboys scored four runs in the third and three in the fourth to tie the game and two more in the sixth. It is the first game the Cowboys have won this season where they did not have to rally in the final inning. Lance Johnson earned the win with three inning of relief, allowing three hits and striking out four. Kurtis Lay earned his second save of the season. Brad Coleman had three hits and drove in three runs and Lay had a pair of hits and drove in two runs. In the nightcap, Kyle Barton and Josh Alcorn combined on a three-hitter in the easy win. Barton struck out six and earned the win. Alcron struck out five in three and two-third innings are recorded the save. Taylor Lamar had five hits and drove in three runs for the Cowboys. Lay and Tre' Sellari each had two hits and drove in two runs. The Cowboys are now 7-4 on the year and will play UT-Dallas on Tuesday at Hunter Field. |
