Cowboys Drop Pair

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team dropped a doubleheader to UT-Tyler, Sunday afternoon at Hunter Field in Abilene, falling 9-5 and 7-4.

In the first game the Cowboys led 3-1 in the sixth inning but UT-Tyler took advantage of an error and went on to score seven unearned runs in the inning all with two outs.

Dalton Rucker had been solid up to that point. He was the hard-luck loser falling to 0-1 on the year. Danny Ruth and Taylor Lamar had two hits each for the Cowboys and Ruth drove in a pair of runs. James Lewis picked up the win for UT-Tyler.

In the second game, the Cowboys led 3-1 after a three-run home run by Brad Coleman in the third. But UT-Tyler scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and a pair in the sixth to take a 5-4 lead. The Patriots added two insurance runs in the ninth.

Kyle Barton took the loss for the Cowboys, falling to 0-2 on the year. Nat Harris earned the win for UT-Tyler. Greg Johnson earned the save for UT-Tyler.

The Cowboys are now 4-4 on the year and UT-Tyler improved to 2-2. HSU is off until a weekend series at LeTourneau, beginning on Friday.
