Cowboys Sweep Louisiana College

Final Stats

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons brought out the bats in a doubleheader sweep, 18-10, 10-3, of Louisiana College in American Southwest Crossover baseball action at Hunter Field on Friday.

In the first game, Michael Simpson went 5-for-5 with five runs scored and five RBIs, including a pair of home runs. Taylor Lamar, Taylor Gibbs and Kyle Swaringen each had three hits and three RBIs. Swearingen and Ryan Stepp each had home runs. Stepp also had three hits for the Cowboys.

Dalton Rucker won the game on the mound for the Cowboys with five inning of work.

In the nightcap, Lance Johnson went five solid innings for the win and James Sweatman and C.J. Regala each were solid out of the bullpen for the Cowboys.

James Gage had his first career home run and had three hits. In the doubleheader, the Cowboys pounded five home runs and had 37 hits.

HSU is now 5-2 on the year and Louisiana College fell to 4-4. The two teams will play a single game at noon on Saturday.
