ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team continued to get great starting pitching and the bats finally came alive as the Cowboys swept a doubleheader from the University of Dallas, 8-3, 18-2, Saturday afternoon at Hunter Field. Craig Foreman, who threw a no-hitter earlier in the week, continued his hot pitching as he threw six scoreless innings, before giving up three runs in the seventh to earn his second win in as many starts. He started the season with 13 straight scoreless innings. On Saturday. he allowed eight hits, gave up three runs, walked one and struck out seven. Four Cowboys had two hits in the game as the Pokes scored five runs in the first three innings. Andy Harrington had a solo home run in the second that came on the heels of his RBI single in the first inning. Brad Coleman, and Michael Popino joined Harrington with run-scoring singles in the four-run first. HSU got back on the board with three runs in the fourth. Michael Simpson had a sacrifice fly that scored Tim Donnelly, who had doubled. Barry Janisse and Popino had run scoring singles in the fourth. Janisse, Harrington, Popino and Donnelly all had two hits for the Cowboys. Harrington and Popino each had a pair of RBIs. UD was paced by Joey Tufano, who had two hits and a pair of RBIs on a two-run home run. In game two, Josh Bishop (1-0) came out with his good stuff as he did not allow a hit until Pedro Gonzalez's double in the fifth inning. He struck out nine batters in 5 and 2/3 innings of work. He allowed two hits and two unearned runs. Brian Whitworth allowed one hit then struck out the next four batters he faced to end the game. Offensively, the Cowboys were led by Janisse, who went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, two doubles and four runs scored. Harrington went 2-for-3 with three runs driven in and Justin Wilson was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a pair of doubles. The Cowboys' two starters Foreman and Bishop have combined to go 3-0 with 1.78 ERA in four starts. They have allowed only 13 hits, five earned runs and have struck out 24. HSU improved to 3-1 on the year and Dallas fell to 1-3. The Cowboys will face ASC East favorite Mississippi College, in Clinton this weekend for a three-game ASC crossover series.
