ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team hit four home runs en route to a 12-2 run rule win over Oklahoma Baptist, Monday afternoon at Hunter Field. Barry Janisse, Michael Simpson Brad Coleman and Justin Wilson all homered for the Cowboys. HSU pounded out 16 hits in the game. The Cowboys jumped on the board early with two runs in the first inning. Taylor Lamar led off with a double. After Janisse walked, Wilson singled in Lamar. Simpson then drove in Janisse with a single through the left side. Janisse and Simpson hit solo homers in the third to make it 4-0. In the fourth Janisse had a sacrifice fly and Wilson added a three-run home run to left. Coleman hit a solo shot to right center in the fifth to make it 9-0. Lamar scored on a wild pitch in the sixth and in the seventh Elliot Strader was hit by a pitch, moved to second on a Coleman single and scored on a Drake double. Lamar then singled in Coleman to make it 12-2. OBU scored their lone runs in the top of the seventh on a pair of sacrifice flies. Nick Kincaid was impressive in his Cowboy debut, working six scoreless innings. He struck out four to earn the win. Lamar, Colemand and Simpson each had three hits and Wilson had four RBIs. HSU is now 2-0 on the season and plays Lubbock Christian at 6 p.m. Monday. |
