ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team dropped its season opener to Oklahoma Baptist, 15-1, Friday afternoon at John J. Hunter Field in Abilene. Sophomore catcher Seth Gandy led the way with two hits and scored the Cowboys lone run in the fifth inning when he doubled and was doubled home by Tim Donnelly. OBU jumped out with three runs in the first inning off four hits. They added a run in the fourth on a home run and put the game away with seven unearned runs in th fifth. Craig Foreman took the loss in his HSU debut, allowing 10 runs (four earned) on nine hits in 4 and 2/3 innings. HSU returns to action Saturday at noon against Lubbock Christian, who fell to OBU 3-1 earlier in the day. Sophomore Kyle Tabor will take the mound. |
