ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team dropped a pair of games at a cold and windy Hunter Field, falling 10-1 to Lubbock Christian and 4-1 to Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday. Hardin-Simmons got on the board in the second inning of the nightcap. Brad Coleman led off the inning with a single and moved up on a Bo Vaculik sac bunt. He moved to third when Taylor Gibbs grounded out and scored on a Trevor Bunte single, after David Willis had walked. Lubbock Christian (4-2) scored two runs in the fourth and added seven in the sixth to break the game wide open. Kyle Barton took the loss for the Cowboys in his first career start. OBU (3-0) took the lead in the fourth when Rolando Fajardo had an RBI double and Emmanuel Paula had an RBI single. In the first game of the day, the Cowboys lost a pitcher's dual 4-1 to Oklahoma Baptist. Starter Dalton Rucker went the first six innings and he did not allow a run. Lance Johnson came on in relief and allowed three runs in an inning and one-third to take the hard-luck loss. The Bison used two Cowboy errors to plate four runs in the seventh and eighth. Daniel Hayes threw four innings of relief for OBU to pick up the win. HSU is 1-2 on the year. |
